Packaging machinery can be broadly divided into two categories:

Wrapping machine

The machine that wraps products with flexible packaging materials is called a wrapping machine. Filling machine

The machine that can complete more than two packaging processes is called a multifunctional packaging machine. Generally, they are named after the packaging process they can complete. The main ones are: 1. Filling and sealing machine, 2. Forming-filling-sealing machine (to shape packaging materials), 3. Forming-filling-sealing machine (to shape prefabricated packaging containers), 4. Vacuum packaging machine (filling-vacuuming-sealing); 5. Inflatable packaging machine (filling-inflating-sealing), 6. Cleaning, sterilizing and drying machine
Machines that clean, sterilize and dry packaging containers before packaging or packaged products after packaging are called cleaning machines, sterilizing machines and drying machines. Packaging auxiliary machinery and equipment
Any machinery and equipment that cannot be included in the above 7 items but is necessary to complete the packaging process can be called packaging auxiliary machinery and equipment. For example, conveying devices, stacking tables, metering machines; box openers, glue applicators, printers, inspection machines, etc.
In addition to the classification of packaging machines mainly based on the packaging function of the machine as mentioned above, sometimes they can be further classified according to the degree of automation or scope of use.

For example, a machine that uses manual feeding of packaging materials or removal of packaged products but can automatically complete other packaging operations can be called a semi-automatic packaging machine; a machine that automatically completes feeding, packaging and finished product output is called an automatic packaging machine.

A packaging machine that can only package products of a certain shape, specification and size is called a special packaging machine; a packaging machine that can package products of two or more different shapes, specifications and sizes is called a multi-purpose packaging machine; a packaging machine that can package products of any shape, specification and size within a certain range is called a general packaging machine.
